Welcome to Browns Corner Press! Learn more about my work as a children’s book author, my resources for educators, students, and parents; my community outreach, and more.

My name is Carol Franks-Randall, and I have spent over 35 years as a teacher, special education administrator, elementary principal, School Superintendent and college professor in New York. During that time I worked with and taught children across the learning continuum.

After retirement, I began writing Jamal and Me, which was inspired by experiences I had during my professional life. I think that children’s literature, particularly picture books can be used to illustrate and illuminate social/emotional issues that plague our schools and greater community.

Throughout my experience, I have learned that more often than not, solutions to behavioral issues can be found when the adults work collaboratively and place the focus on the student.

“I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful books! My daughter and I just sat down and read all three together. The stories, themes and illustrations were delightful! I was smiling recognizing you first as Dr. Toughlove in Jamal and Me and then as Nana in Playground Heroes. I am so looking forward to reading these books with my students. I love how you’ve turned your experiences into bite-sized lessons in relatable and fun stories!” Gina Crook, Elementary Teacher and Teacher of the Year Finalist, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, Maryland
