Visit to Kent Island Elementary School’s African-American Read Aloud Event, Stevensville, MD

I had the honor and the privilege of participating in Kent Island Elementary School’s Annual African-American Read Aloud Event. I read Playground Heroes to all six kindergarten classes in the school’s library and media center. Many thanks to Kia Reed for contacting me, to Kathy Barletta, for our longstanding collaborative efforts, and to Principal Cornish for purchasing copies of Playground Heroes for each kindergarten classroom. Last but not least, thank you to the kindergarten students and staff for welcoming me with open arms.

Me with Principal Cornish

“The kindergarten students and teachers at Kent Island Elementary School enjoyed the story Playground Heroes written by Dr. Carol Franks-Randall. Carol Franks-Randall is not only an author but a storyteller and the students and teachers were fortunate to have her join them during our school’s African American Read-In Day.” Kathy Barletta, Assistant Principal, Kent Island Elementary School

Thank you Principal Cornish, Assistant Principal Kathy Barletta and Guidance Counselor Kia Reed for including me in this event!
